Professional Background
I’ve spent more than three decades in corporate information technology helping organizations build, support, and scale enterprise infrastructure. My career began in 1992 and has included leadership and engineering roles with Kinetic Computer Solutions, Intersolv, Merant, Serena Software, Micro Focus, and OpenText.
Throughout my career I have worked across corporate data centers, infrastructure operations, service desk leadership, systems engineering, enterprise support, and corporate property management. A significant portion of my background has focused on Unix and Linux environments supporting development organizations running AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, and Linux in traditional data centers and modern cloud platforms.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and a Master’s degree in Technology Management.
The Story Behind HurkTech
People often ask where the name HurkTech came from. My middle name is Kane, and many years ago friends gave me the nickname “Hurrikane.” What began as a nickname eventually became part of my stage persona during my years as a musician.
Over time it was shortened to “Hurk,” which is what many friends still call me. Combining that longtime nickname with my passion for technology felt natural.

Why HurkTech.io?
Technology has always been more than a profession—it has been a passion. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on automating repetitive tasks, improving operational efficiency, and solving real-world business problems through practical technology.
That passion led to the HurkTech.io Invoice Generator. What began as a personal project to eliminate manual contractor invoices evolved into a full-featured web application built with modern web technologies and AI-assisted development.
I use AI as a development partner, not a replacement: defining requirements, validating results, and integrating them into maintainable software that solves real problems.
Today
I currently work as a full-time contractor and Sr. Tech supporting the Epic Experiences division of LEAP Event Technology. I travel throughout the United States and internationally, leading event technology operations and supporting large-scale live entertainment experiences.
My work has taken me to Comic Cons, WWE events, fan conventions, and other major productions where reliability, customer experience, and flawless execution are critical.
The role combines technical leadership, troubleshooting, infrastructure support, logistics, and team coordination in a fast-paced environment where no two events are exactly alike.
Beyond Technology
Outside technology, I am a husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong musician. I have been married to my beautiful wife for nearly 38 years; together we raised three children and are loving grandparents to eight grandchildren.
When I’m not traveling for work, you’ll usually find me behind a drum kit. I’ve played since age 12 and currently perform in tribute bands around the Portland, Oregon metro area—a lifelong passion every bit as rewarding as my technology career.
